Lock Screen

Your heart rate zone on the iPhone Lock Screen

Phone in your pocket, zone on your Lock Screen. Motionry's Live Activity keeps your speed, heart rate and zone one glance away, with pause and lap a tap away.

Free Lock Screen Dynamic Island

What it shows

While an activity is recording, a Live Activity keeps the essentials on your Lock Screen: your speed, your distance, and your heart rate with its zone. Pause and Lap buttons sit underneath, so you can act without opening the app.

On iPhones with a Dynamic Island, the same information shows there when you leave the app.

When it helps

  • Your phone is in a jersey pocket or on a bike mount, and you want your zone without unlocking it.
  • You are on a treadmill or an indoor bike with the phone on a stand.
  • You switch to another app mid-session and still want your heart rate in view.
  • You want to pause or take a lap with one tap, from the Lock Screen.

Motionry keeps recording with the screen locked, so you can leave the phone alone.

How to use it

  1. Start a ride, run or walk in Motionry.
  2. Lock your iPhone. The Live Activity appears on the Lock Screen.
  3. Glance at it for your heart rate and zone. Tap Pause or Lap when you need to.
  4. To finish, drag to finish in the app. It takes a drag, so a tap in your pocket cannot end the ride.

If you do not see it

Live Activities can be switched off for each app in iOS Settings. Open Settings, choose Motionry, and check that Live Activities is on. Live Activities need iOS 16.1 or later, and Motionry itself requires iOS 26.

Questions

Is the Live Activity free?

Yes. It is part of the free plan, along with live heart rate zones and GPS recording.

Does it work on iPhones without a Dynamic Island?

Yes. The Lock Screen Live Activity works on any iPhone that runs Motionry. Only iPhones with a Dynamic Island also show it there.

Does it show a map or my location?

No. It shows numbers only: speed, distance, heart rate and zone, plus the Pause and Lap buttons.

Where does the heart rate come from?

From your Apple Watch or from a Bluetooth chest strap such as a Polar H10. An iPhone has no heart rate sensor of its own.
